Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a therapeutic massage treatment.
The massage uses a light pressure and gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to increase the flow of lymph.
It's a very gentle skin stretching technique designed to move the skin in specific directions of the lymphatic system.
The stretching and massage techniques stimulate the lymphatic vessels which carry substances vital to the body's immune system which helps fight infection and removes waste products.
The aim of MLD is to move fluid to an area where it can move more freely which is intended to encourage the natural circulation of the lymph through the body.
This assists the body in cleansing, reducing oedema, (water retention), swellings, puffiness, helps reduce cellulite, improves the appearance of scar tissue, and is used in the treatment of lymphoedema and lipedema.
MLD requires no use of oils or any other products, its a deeply relaxing treatment and is a pain free therapy.
