'Light touch relaxation that can support people through wellness or sickness"
Reiki is an ancient form of healing rediscovered in Japan in 1922 by Mikao Usui, who developed the system of Reiki we recognise and use today.
It is a gentle, natural healing therapy which aims to restore and rebalance the energy centres (chakras) of your body and will help unblock any patterns or issues that have been holding you back on either a physical, mental or spiritual level and creating a more positive outlook.
The Practitioner does not direct, or influence, the flow of Reiki, rather the energy acts upon the body where it is required. It is completely safe, and will not cause any harm to the recipient, and can help in many situations.
Reiki may provide help with:
- Improving sleep.
- Promoting deeper relaxation and reducing stress levels.
- Helping recovery from illness or surgery.
- Emotional stress and depression.
*It is important to point out that Reiki is not a substitute for medical care, although it can be used alongside any other treatment.
People who have experienced Reiki feel there body temperature may fluctuate, especially if alot of emotions come up during a session. Or they may feel anything from intense heat, some feel cold, some will see colours, tingling, and lightness, to a sense of deep peace and wellbeing. Some will experience an emotional release. These are all quite natural and each person will feel something totally different.
Reiki is a hands on treatment where the person who is receiving the treatment remains fully clothed, (as the energy will still pass through clothing).
If you would rather not like being touched, then Reiki can be done placing the hands above you.
You will be asked to lie on the couch, and made comfortable with pillows and blankets, soft music and candles will create a soothing atmosphere, allowing you to switch off from your day.
During the treatment the practitioner lightly rests their hands in varying numbers of hand positions on the body, on the head, chest, abdomen, legs, feet, and back, you may find yourself drifting off to sleep during the treatment!
Reiki can also be treated in a sitting position too.
At the end of the treatment you feel extremely relaxed and peaceful...
